MORIGAON: Assam College Teachers Association and Morigaon College (Autonomous) organized a workshop and awareness meeting on Advantage Assam 2.0 for the first time on Thursday. The workshop was held at Advantage Assam and the keynote address was delivered by Dr Ranoj Pegu, Minister of State for Education. Speaking on the occasion he said that the workshop was a commendable initiative of the Assam College Teachers Association. He said that every district in the state had benefited unimaginably through Advantage Assam and Morigaon district also got a large industry like semiconductor project. He said that a memorandum of understanding (MoU) had been signed with some local entrepreneurs to invest Rs 1500 crore in the district. He said that the National Education Policy brought about radical changes in the education sector of the country.
The event was also attended by Morigaon MLA Ramakant Deori. Earlier, the Education Minister was welcomed by the students, students’ union, and teachers of the college.
Minister Dr Ranoj Pegu also visited the District Education and Training Institute (DIET) in Morigaon on Thursday. He addressed the DIET students and said that after completing DLE, everyone should strive for employment. He said that for this, it was essential to master the techniques of passing competitive examinations. He said that the Integrated Teacher Education Program would be launched in 17 colleges in Assam from this academic year and this would result in coordination between different colleges and DIET or BEd colleges.
Earlier, the welcome address was presented by Subhalakshmi Konwar, Professor of DIET. The Education Minister was accompanied by Morigaon MLA Ramakant Deuri and DIET’s Principal Kishore Kumar Das.
