Bhairav Kakoti leads Academy of Royals Cricket to final of TOPCEM-ASJA Inter School and Coaching Centre Cricket tournament

GUWAHATI: Riding on a sensational century by Bhairav Kakoti, Academy of Royals Cricket secured a spot in the final of the TOPCEM-ASJA Inter School and Coaching Centre Cricket tournament. The side defeated River Rine Cricket Coaching Centre by a convincing 82 runs in the second semi-final at Nehru Stadium here today.

The final match is scheduled for Saturday at the same venue, where Academy of Royals Cricket will take on South Point School.

After invited to bat, Academy of Royals Cricket posted a commanding total of 248-9 in their allotted 40 overs. Leading from the front, team captain and opener Bhairav Kakoti delivered a scintillating knock of 113 runs off 85 balls, laced with 14 boundaries and one six. His innings laid the foundation for the imposing total. Zayan Zaman contributed a valuable 38 runs, adding to the team’s effort.

River Rine Cricket Coaching Centre’s captain Anchit Das was the standout performer with the ball, claiming impressive figures of 4-52.

Chasing 249, River Rine Cricket Coaching Centre could only muster 166 runs before being bowled out in 36.2 overs. Mausam Saikia (43) and Suryajyoti Bhagawati (27) showed some resistance, but it wasn’t enough to threaten the target. Sameer Mahato bowled superbly for Academy of Royals Cricket, finishing with figures of 3-20.
