Early Life:
Sherman Ali Ahmed is the son of Late Raushan Ali Ahmed and Late Moyjan Nessa. He is 54 years old, a resident of Mandia Gaon in Barpeta.
Education:
He has done a two years course in Forestry and Allied Subjects from Eastern Forest Rangers College, Kurseong under I.C.F.R.E. in 1989.
Career and Political Life:
Sherman Ali Ahmed is the sitting MLA of the Baghbar constituency. He fought Assam Election twice in 2011 and 2016 and is contesting for the third time in a row. In the 2016 Assam Assembly Elections, he defeated Sheikh Abdul Hamid of AIUDF with a vote margin of 43433 and in 2011 Assam Assembly Elections, he defeated Rajib Ahmed with 32121 margin votes.
He was in the news for raising the issue of setting up a Miyan Museum in the precincts of Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra in Guwahati. The matter escalated into a huge controversy.
