Kagaj Nigam Karmi Union staged Rally for revival of Jagiroad Paper Mill

JAGIROAD: The Kagaj Nigam Karmi Union (KNKU) of the Nagaon Paper Mill (NPM) staged a protest rally on Monday at the main gate of the mill demanding revival of NPM, Jagiroad and Cachar Paper Mill (CPM), Panchgram. The union leader said that Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and State Industry Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary had assured them of revival of the mills and payment of their pending monthly salaries but nothing had been done so far in this regard. They said that they were yet to receive 33 months’ salary and because of the financial problem, so far 55 employees had died and three committed suicide. The employees demanded revival of the mills and payment of their pending salaries.
