Chandigarh MC Elections: BJP Mayor Loses, AAP Wins 14 Seats
The saffron party's mayor Ravi Kant Sharma and former mayor Davesh Moudgil were both defeated by AAP candidates.

Chandigarh: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has won the most seats in the city municipal elections and pushed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to second place.
Notably, the AAP contested the municipal elections for the first time and came out with flying colours as the party emerged as the largest party.
The AAP won the 14 seats of 35 wards, while BJP grabbed 12 seats. On the other hand, Congress won eight seats and the Akali Dal won one seat.
Elections were held on Friday in Chandigarh, the capital of Punjab and Haryana.
Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal express his happiness over the win and said, "AAP's victory in the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation points at the imminent change in Punjab. People have rejected corrupt politics and have chosen AAP...Punjab is ready for change".
"The Chandigarh election is a trailer, Punjab will be the full movie. The mood in Chandigarh is the mood in Punjab," said AAP's Raghav Chadha.
The saffron party's mayor Ravi Kant Sharma and former mayor Davesh Moudgil were both defeated by AAP candidates, while AAP's election campaign committee head Chander Mukhi Sharma also lost.
