Guwahati: The COVID-19 tally of Assam reached 203,967 after 258 new cases were detected out of 12,263 tests conducted. Assam Health and Family Wealth Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma shared the information via Twitter late night on Saturday.
Out of 258 cases, 66 were reported from Kamrup (M). The positivity rate of the state stands at 2.10 per cent.
The current active cases of the state are 20,271 after 2948 patients recovered and discharged from the hospital on Saturday. The fatality rate of the state is 0.44%, with 902 people losing life to the deadly virus.
The recovery and active cases percentage in the state is 89.61% and 9.94%, respectively.
On Monday morning, Sarma posted a COVID-19 graph of Assam, showing that the state has completed 45 lakh tests. He said that in the last few days, they have seen a declining trend of the virus in the state. "Testing remains as the most critical weapon in our fight against the pandemic," he added.
With Durga Puja festivities going on around the state, there are chances of the fast spread of the virus. The government has repeatedly urged the people of the state to follow safety protocols of COVID-19 while celebrating the festivities.
