Guwahati: Wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson confirmed Wednesday that his family had tested positive for the coronavirus and are now implementing "stricter rules" on socializing amid the ongoing crisis.

Johnson in a video that he posted on the social media platform Instagram said that his wife Lauren and two daughters all tested positive for COVID-19 about three weeks ago. Although his daughters had only mild symptoms, the illness was much harder on the adults, Johnson said.

Johnson said that being infected with the dreaded coronavirus was one of the "most challenging and difficult things we have ever had to endure as a family" Johnson said. He added that the family has now recovered from the virus.

Friends unaware that they were infected with the virus reportedly spread the illness to the Johnsons during a visit and. Johnson said the family friends "felt terrible."

Johnson said that the family is now taking extra precautions while letting friends in. "My takeaway here isn't necessarily to keep them away, I'm not saying that, but what I am saying now is apply an even greater discipline to having people over to your house," he said in the video.

The 48-year-old said that any trusted family and friends who come to his house will be tested for the virus before being allowed over. The actor also said he's spoken to numerous doctors and experts on how the family can boost their immune systems and general wellness.

Rejecting the idea that wearing a mask was a political act, the 'Baywatch' star encouraged his fans to don facial coverings to help reduce the spread of the COVID-19. "Wear your mask. It is a fact, and it is the right thing to do, and it's the responsible thing to do," Johnson said.
