GUWAHATI: Popular filmmaker Bhargav Saikia has announced about his new movie project. It will be a multi-lingual horror-fantasy movie titled "Bokshi".

Saikia, who rose to fame after making a short film "The Black Cat", told a news agency on Friday that his next movie will be a horror movie and he will start its shooting this month in Sikkim and Darjeeling, which are blessed with numerous picturesque places. The Black Cat is based on a short story by globally acclaimed writer Ruskin Bond.

He said the film Bokshi has a gripping tagline – "a witch is born twice" which gives an impression that the film's plot revolves around witchcraft and supernatural things. The movie, which will feature Mansi Multani and Prasanna Bisht as two protagonists, is being produced by Saikia's Lorien Motion Pictures. Multani has worked in Pari, Kadakh, and the Netflix / BBC series A Suitable Boy, while Prasanna will be working as a lead actor in a feature film for the first time.

The last work by Saikia – The Black Cat – which featured Tom Alter and Shernaz Patel received nominations at the 2018 Critics' Choice Short Film Awards presented by the Film Critics Guild of India. Saikia earned a name in professional film making after he produced Kaafiron Ki Namaz, which was immensely acclaimed by critics.

Saikia also unveiled the official title logo of Bokshi on Friday and shared it on Twitter. He expressed his delight of sharing the news of his directorial debut and also informed about the cast of the movie.
