Guwahati: Thirty-nine more Covid-19 patients have been released from hospitals across the state after testing negative for the Covid-19. With this, the number of discharged patients rose to 498, and the number of active patients is now 1,648.
Of those 39 patients, 13 were released from the Mahendra Mohan Choudhary Hospital, 11 from the Tezpur Medical College and Hospital (TMCH), 6 from the Golaghat Civil Hospital, 5 from the Jorhat Medical College and Hospital, 3 from the Assam Medical College and Hospital, and a single patient was released from the Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH), said Assam Health and Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
This is almost at par with the number of fresh cases that were detected in the day -- 38. Of these 38 fresh cases, 13 are from Darrang; 9 from Dima Hasao; 7 from Nagaon; 5 from Sonitpur; 2 from Hailakandi; and 2 from Karimganj districts.

Yesterday, 158 fresh cases of the Covid-19 were reported in Assam, while 29 persons were discharged after recovering from the respiratory illness, taking the total number up to 442. The Covid-19 related death toll in the state stands rooted at 4 and the last death was reported on May 19.
Meanwhile, India's tally of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) has surged beyond 226,700 and 6,348 people have died so far, according to the central government's data. In worrying signs, the cases are now rising at an unprecedented rate. India reported crossing the 25,000-mark in 87 days on April 26, but this number gets added every two days now, according to the Union Health Ministry's Data.
