FM Nirmala Sitharaman Initiates 3rd Phase of Chah Bagicha Dhan Puraskar Mela in Guwahati
With the vision of PM Modi, Chah Bagicha Dhan Puraskar Mela is an ambitious move by Assam govt to ensure financial inclusion of tea tribe workers

GUWAHATI: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on February 6, initiated the ceremonial distribution ceremony of Chah Bagicha Dhan Puraskar Mela in Guwahati.
It is to be mentioned that as many as 7,46,667 beneficiaries of tea gardens were covered under the scheme.
Notably, the scheme was launched in Financial Year (FY) 2017-18. The main objective of the scheme is to incentivize and strengthen the efforts of financial inclusion of the tea tribe community.
Further, in the 1st phase of the scheme, Rs. 2500 was credited to 6,33,411 bank accounts of tea garden workers in FY 2017-18 through Direct Benefit Transfer.
In phase 2, an additional amount of Rs. 2500 was credited to 7,15,979 bank accounts of tea garden workers in FY 2018-19.
At the phase, Rs.3000 will be credited to 7,46,667 beneficiaries of tea garden workers.
Taking to Twitter handle, Assam Finance Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, "Today, along with Hon FM Smt @nsitharaman, HCM @sarbanandsonwal, Cabinet Colleagues, MPs & MLAs, joined ceremonial distribution ceremony of Chah Bagicha Dhan Puraskar Mela for disbursements to 7,46,667 beneficiaries of tea gardens."
Further, the minister said, "Tea-Gardens are an integral part of Assam's identity. Chah Bagicha Dhan Puraskar Mela is an ambitious move by Assam Finance Department to ensure financial inclusion of tea tribe workers, in keeping with the vision of PM Modi."
Meanwhile, on February 7, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is said to visit Dhekiajuli in Assam.
PM Modi is said to launch the Assam Mala Project for the up-gradation of state highways and will also lay the foundation of the medical colleges of Biswanath and Charaideo from the same venue.
Taking stock of the situation at Dhekiajuli, Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal said that a helipad adjacent to the meeting venue has been created to facilitate PM Modi's visit.
Dhekiajuli MLA Ashok Singhal on his Twitter handle shared an updated vehicle Parking route map.
