NEW DELHI: A reputed journalist from India Today landed in trouble water after he made a statement with regards to Nagaland.
According to reports, Rahul Kanwal on June 2 hosted a panel discussion regarding the developments in the case of the fugitive Mehul Choksi and the panel consisted of Choksi's lawyer, a writer, and a Director-General of police from Nagaland.
Meanwhile, while the discussion was on air and the Director-General of police from Nagaland, Rupin Sharma, was replying to Kanwal's question about the possible outcomes in Choksi's case, Sharma's screen went black and he said, "Rahul my electricity has gone off."
To which Kanwal replied, "Don't worry, you're in Nagaland, electricity goes off even in India, please go on speaking Rupin, we'll just listen to what you're saying."
This news has since gone viral and people are condemning the journalist.
One Twitter user wrote, "YouTuber was arrested for the same which means he needs to behind the bar. How can someone be this old and not know anything about this country? Shameful..."
Another wrote, "He also needs a lesson in geography. GoN should invite him to Nagaland soon #NortheastMatters."
